The Working Lands Enterprise Board announces this year’s grant recipients - 37 projects for $1.1 million in grants reaching every county in Vermont (8 forestry projects, 28 agriculture projects, 1 ag and forestry project) and leveraging $1.8 million in matching funds, building upon last year’s initial investment of $1 million. This year, the program further invests in job creation, innovation, sustainability, and increased income.

The Working Lands Enterprise Board announces this year’s grant recipients from its “Enterprise Investment” area awarding just under $300,000 of $1.2 million available to 19 grantees in 11 counties of the state representing the agriculture, forestry and forest products sectors, (3 forestry projects and 16 agriculture projects), leveraging over $350,000 in matching funds.

Vermont Working Lands Enterprise Board Announces Two New Board Members

The Vermont Working Lands Enterprise Board (WLEB) is pleased to announce the appointment of two new members to its Board: Beverley E. Thurber for the appointment of a representative of Vermont’s dairy industry who is also a dairy farmer, and Joseph W. Nelson for the appointment of a representative of the Vermont forest industry who is also a forester as designated in The Working Lands Enterprise Initiative (Act 142).

Working Lands Enterprise Board Announces the Release of Available Poultry Processing Grant Funds

The Working Lands Enterprise Board announces the availability of $40,000 in grant funds for investment into VT poultry processing projects. The poultry processing funds are the proceeds from the sale of the state owned mobile poultry processing unit to be reinvested in VT’s poultry processing sector. Applications received must be for the construction of a mobile or fixed, commercially inspected (state or federal) poultry slaughter and/or processing facility. With strong justification, a mobile facility operating under the 20,000 bird exemption would be considered.

Gov. Shumlin announces final 16 grantees of the Working Lands Fund

 

MONTPELIER – Gov. Peter Shumlin, Agriculture, Food & Markets Secretary Chuck Ross, Commerce & Community Development Secretary Lawrence Miller, Forests, Parks & Recreation Commissioner Michael Snyder and the Working Lands Enterprise Board today announced the final grant recipients from the Service Provider and Capital and Infrastructure areas of the Working Lands Enterprise Fund, awarding more than $750,000 to 16 grantees representing sectors across agriculture, forestry and forest products.
